When Halloween comes around it suddenly gets so much harder to eat healthy. Stores are packed with sugary, chocolatey Halloween treats and everyone seems to have a stash of chocolate in their house, which is always on offer. Temptation is all around you, but you don’t have to give in.
This is because it is more than possible to have a healthy Halloween. There are many treats that you can make for Halloween that aren’t high in calories and sugar. I know it sounds a little too good to be true, but it is the truth.
Here are 5 light Halloween treats that are easy to make and are ideal for Halloween.


Banana Ghosts
Ghosts are everywhere during Halloween you may as well jump on the bandwagon and add to the army of ghosts by making these tasty treats.


You Will Need:

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 cup of dried shredded coconut
  • 6 Raisins
  • 12 Chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups of orange juice
  • 6 lollipop sticks

Directions:

  • Cut all the bananas in half widthwise.
  • Then peel them.
  • Insert a lollipop stick into the flat end of each banana half.
  • Freeze them for 4 hours.
  • Pour the coconut onto a plate and spread it out evenly.
  • Take the banana halves out and dip them in the orange juice.
  • Then roll them on the plate of coconut, until they are evenly covered.
  • Place two choc chips on each of them for eyes and a raisin for a mouth.
  • There you have it banana ghosts!

Roasted Pumpkin Seed Salad
This recipe isn’t Halloween themed but uses pumpkin seeds, which can be found in most peoples houses over the Halloween period.


You Will Need:

  • Pumpkin seeds
  • Extra virgin olive oil.
  • Salad leaves.

Directions:

  • Add a bit of extra virgin olive oil to a frying pan.
  • Throw in the pumpkin seeds.
  • Roast them for a few minutes.
  • Add to some salad leaves.

Vampires Mouths
Vampires are another classic at Halloween. Here is a creative recipe that is really fun and easy to make.


You Will Need:

  • Apples (1 apple makes 4 mouths)
  • Almonds

Directions:

  • Quarter and core all of your apples.
  • Then cut a wedge from the skin side of each apple quarter.
  • Finally press almonds on both sides of the wedge so they resemble teeth.
  • Enjoy your Vampires mouths.

Spooky Sandwiches
Sandwiches are a perfect healthy Halloween treat. Everyone knows how to make them and you can have some Halloween fun with them.


You Will Need:

  • Bread
  • Butter
  • Filling of your choice

Directions:

  • Make a few sandwiches.
  • Cut them into Halloween shapes
  • Some good ideas are bats, ghosts and witches hats.

Strawberry Ghosts

Yes, another ghost recipe has made its way into this article, but this one uses a different fruit!
You Will Need:

  • 25 strawberries
  • 225g of white chocolate
  • A drop of almond extract
  • Some chocolate chips

Directions:

  • Make sure that all the strawberries are properly washed.
  • Then dry them.
  • Melt the white chocolate in a bowl.
  • Once the chocolate is melted add the almond extract and give it a stir.
  • Then dip the strawberries in the chocolate, making sure that they are completely covered.
  • Place them on a baking sheet.
  • Add 2 chocolate chips to each strawberry to form eyes.
  • Melt a handful of chocolate chips.
  • Finally use a toothpick to draw mouths on each ghost using the melted chocolate chips.
