Guest Post: 5 Suggestions On How To Decorate Your Office Desk For Christmas

Here are 5 great tips that anyone can use to decorate their home office space for the holidays.

Home office desks are still part of the home. It would be out of place if the rest of the house is decorated with anything that reminds one of Christmas, but when one moves or enters the home office, it is bare. Therefore, it is only right that the Christmas air is present in the office without preventing the worker from being productive.
Here are a few suggestions that can liven up your home office without forgetting the work that should be done:
  1. Make the Christmas tree a focal point.  The most visible and obvious symbol of Christmas is the Christmas tree.  They also come in different sizes.  For those who will inhabit the office desk, a Christmas tree that is a foot tall or less will do the trick. The size of the office desk and how large or small a space you will need will determine the size of the tree. The larger the desk, the larger the tree.  Make sure that it doesn’t get in the way of your work.
  2. Jars in the form and shape of Santa Claus and Christmas trees.  Aside from being decorative, such jars can contain candies, chocolates, cookies, nuts or jelly beans.  If the jar is see-through, it is best to contain colorful candies.  The color adds more fun and life in which may otherwise be a drab and monotonous space. Home-based workers may have family members -- especially children -- dropping by. In the spirit of Christmas, giving them candies can give cheer as well as maybe rid them of staying too long so that you, the office worker, could get things done. Workers themselves could benefit from having something to munch on while thinking of steps or solutions to address a problem.  It may also increase one’s creativity.
  3. Adorn the monitor with a garland.  Homes have wreaths on the doors and garlands around handrails and banisters. When it comes to the office desk, the monitor can get an enhancement. It is at this time that the simple and common appliance of an office can dress up. The garland can also have tiny embellishments or lights to make it more festive. Just make sure that the embellishments don’t get in the way of reading or watching what is on-screen.  This can be an option if there is no room for a Christmas tree.
  4. Decorate with ornaments. If a table faces or is placed against a wall or window, Christmas ornaments such as bells and balls can be hanged.  Such ornaments, if they are tiny, can also be attached to the garland.  They can even be twined around a lamp or used as a paperweight.
  5. Compliment the office with a Christmas doily or mouse pad. A large office desk can have flowers or plants.  Underneath it may lay a doily which is often reminiscent of snowflakes when the cold months of Christmas roll in. A Christmas scene can also be depicted in a mouse pad and it wouldn’t even be an unnecessary use of space.

Hanging Christmas stockings each year is a favorite tradition for many families. Whether you hang your stocking in the traditional way on a fireplace or with stick on hooks on the wall, the excitement that we feel on Christmas morning is the same. Making your own Christmas stockings not only can save you heaps from your Christmas shopping budget, it can add even more fun and excitement into your family’s hearts this year by creating your own unique designs. There are a number of ways you can create your own Christmas stockings, depending how creative you are, which include DIY projects and embroidered designs. For some great tips on how to make your very own stockings this Christmas, check out our helpful guide below.

Custom Designs

If you want to create your own personalized Christmas stockings, but aren't the creative type, why not seek the help of an online printing company. That special handmade touch can still be given as you create your design online, but leave all the hard work to the professionals. Having the option of choosing your own font, you’ll be able to create a design that represents the individual personality of each family member. Personalized Christmas stockings are great gift ideas for all family members and incredibly easy to make.

Update your Favorite

If you’re anything like me, when Christmas time comes around you become sentimental and always have your favorite ornaments or stockings that have their place on the mantel piece – even if they are falling apart from age! For those of you, who already have your favorite Christmas stocking, why not create a new personalized label to really make it your own and give it a new lease on life this holiday season. With the help of an online printing company, you can easily create your own sticky label which can then be affixed to your old favorite.

DIY Projects

For those of you who like to get creative, you could always try making your own Christmas stocking from scratch. Purchasing or downloading a free template is a great start, helping to ensure that your stocking has a professionally finished look. Always remember that while DIY projects can be a great deal of fun, they can also be very stressful! If you want to make your Christmas stocking, without the added hassle, create your own personalized design online.
Christmas stockings are a big part of many family traditions and something that the kids (and big kids at heart) always look forward to. For that extra special touch this Christmas, why not make your Christmas stocking with a few easy clicks of a mouse. With most online printers allowing you to choose your own font and various other personalisation on the stocking, there’s never been an easier way to be one of Santa’s little helpers. Guest Post: Deck the Halls with Baby Keepsakes: Some 1st Christmas Gift Ideas

That first Christmas is a special time of year for the entire family. So while the Jolly Old Elf is busy preparing to stuff presents under the Christmas tree, there are plenty of creative holiday-themed baby keepsakes you can make yourself or buy to remember and cherish your time together.

First Christmas Ornament

Pick out a special ornament for your tree this year to remember your baby’s first Christmas.
For those “do-it-yourself-ers,” simply cut out a cute photo of your little angel and, using a glue stick, glue the cutouts to an ornament. Consider dressing up Santa’s Little Helper in a special elf or reindeer costume for the photo.
Once you’ve glued the photo to your ornament, you’ll want to add the year with a marker or felt tip pen.
You could also decorate your tree with a digital image of your little one printed on an ornament. Most stores that print digital photos also have special printing options, such as personalized ornaments. All you have to do is upload the image at the store or through the store’s Web site, and they’ll reproduce the image on an ornament.
And while you’re at it, consider making this a holiday tradition the entire family can enjoy!

Personalized Christmas Plate

If you want to start a new holiday tradition for your baby’s first Christmas, personalized holiday plates are the perfect keepsake.
Most stores that print digital photos will not only make ornaments, many can also make special personalized holiday plates with your uploaded images. You can then get a stand to display your little cherub for all your family and friends to see!
Or, if you want to make sure Santa has his fill of milk and cookies on the big night, consider getting a customized plate. Check your local gift shops, or go online to find places that will make a special Christmas keepsake for your baby that has his or her name on the plate.

Baby’s First Christmas Photo Album

You’ll never want to forget that first Christmas with your little one. For every holiday-themed milestone moment – like the first time your baby sat on Santa’s lap, or that first Christmas morning – snap a photo so you can cherish the memories forever.
And for the tech savvy, consider downloading your photos onto a digital frame. Pick out your favorite holiday photos of your toddler, then set the photos to run on a continuous loop to set the holiday mood!

Christmas Mobile

You can find a Christmas mobile for your little angel at numerous stores this time of year, including some that will play holiday music. And if your local stores don’t carry one, you can find one online.
Or if you really want to get creative, try making your own Christmas mobile. You can go online to find websites that will give you instructions, and the characters to print and cut out. You can personalize it, too, with photos of mom, dad and baby, and instead of using small batons or wooden sticks, consider using branches from a fir tree for a special Yuletide keepsake.

Natural Baby Bedding

Keeping your angel happy and healthy is so important. As the Arabian proverb says, “He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything.” So when searching for Christmas-themed baby keepsakes, consider buying natural baby bedding. Organic materials are all natural. That means, no hazardous chemicals are used, the material is fire retardant, and it has natural antifungal and antimicrobial properties.
Other Baby’s First Christmas Keepsake Ideas Include:
  • Elf booties
  • Stocking with his or her name embroidered on it
  • Christmas onsie
  • Little Santa hat
  • Personalized blanket with your baby’s name embroidered on it
  • Disney Princess jewelry
