September is PCOS Awareness Month

September is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Awareness month. PCOS is an endocrine disease that affects women and is the a major cause of infertility. A woman that has PCOS will have ting, benign cysts in their ovaries. They also usually have other symptoms including high levels of androgen hormones. It's these higher levels that cause women to have more acne and abnormal hair growth.

It's estimated that up to 8% of women are affected by PCOS. Not all women will experience all of the symptoms of PCOS. It also doesn't cause infertility in some women. The only way to get a complete and accurate diagnosis is to consult your physician.

PCOS can cause infertility due to the abnormally high hormone levels in their system. This condition has also been associated with a higher risk of early miscarriage for some women. The miscarriage rate may possibly be as high as 40%. This is over twice the rate for the rest of the general population.

Please take some time to research this condition if you think this may be the cause of your fertility problems. There are treatments available that can help get your problems under control and have the baby you've always wanted.
